What's on your rider?Whatever they are kind enough to give me.

What would be on your fantasy rider?A cowboy.

What's your pre-gig ritual/ routine?I sacrifice a few music industry execs and dance around in a grass skirt. Actually, I'm super boring, I drink tea and bore my tour manager with bad impressions and terrible jokes.

How do you get to the gig – limo, taxi, walking? My tour manager drives me.

What's the best gig you've ever been to?My favourite gig was a band called Ponderosa at a place called 12th and Porter in Nashville. Because the lead singer is a badass singer and the whole band is tight! My mind was so blown that night that it still hasn't recovered.

What are your favourite and least favourite venues? My favourite is the Paradiso in Amsterdam. My least favourite? I'm pretty sure I blocked it out of my memory, because that's what I do with the traumatic thoughts.

Who is the most famous person to have shown up at one of your gigs?Irish singer Paddy Casey came to my last gig in Dublin. He's wicked cool.

Most embarrassing on-stage moment? When I had allergies before a show and I took a decongestant, it kicked in right as the set started and my nose started running uncontrollably. The people in the front row were pretty grossed out.

What's your crowd-pleasing number?People tend to dig I'm No Elvis Presley.

What's the most you've ever paid for a gig ticket?I paid over $100 to see Tom Petty, but I had to go out on tour so I sold the ticket. But the guy who bought it never actually paid me for it because he's a dink.

Chatting between songs – good or bad?Good. Because shows can be boring if people say absolutely nothing

Groupies. Would you?Sex them up? Kidnap them and stuff them in my wardrobe case? Steal their identities? Pinch their bums?

How big is your entourage? No entourage for me – just me, my guitar, and my trusty tour manager.

Have you a special stage wardrobe?Yeah, I look like calamity Jane going to a funeral. It's pretty weird.

Do you like to meet and greet fans after the gig?Yeah! Love it!

Any useful stage tips?Don't drink carbonated drinks on stage because they make you burp into the microphone.

If you could be in any other band, which one?I'd be in Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

Who's invited to your aftershow party?Everyone in the universe.
