INDEPENDENT electronica label Psychonavigation Records turns 12 next month, and to celebrate, they are hosting a seven-hour bash Upstairs at Whelan’s. On August 25th, artists signed to the Dublin-based label will play, including “the godfather of Irish electronica” Roger Doyle, 24-year-old minimalist Mayo composer Seamus O’Muineachain and genre-hopping Kildare band The P Affection. Imploded View, Sean Quinn, String Theory Sound System and Adeyhawke are also on the bill, while label founder Keith Downey will DJ.

Whelan's was where the first Psychonavigation compilation was launched in 2000, so the venue for the bash seemed fitting, Downey said. "We can't believe we're still trucking along after all these years. There's been a few labels recently who decided to pack up for mostly financial reasons, but to be frank, what little money the label makes, we invest back into the business and because of this, we can continue to release music on a physical format. This is our main mission and something we always will provide to our customers." Tickets for the birthday party are on sale now from tickets.ie
