Latest U2 album released for free on iTunes

Announcement was made at the launch of new iPhones and Apple Watch

U2's latest album Songs of Innocence has been given away free to iTunes customers.

The album, which has also been given to subscribers of the band’s website, will be released generally on October 13th.

It was announced during the launch of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as the Apple Watch in California today that the album would be made freely available to iTunes customers.

According to a press release from the band, Songs of Innocence “deals with themes of home and family, relationships and discovery and was recorded in Dublin, London, New York and Los Angeles and is produced by Danger Mouse, along with Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Declan Gaffney and Flood”.
