Githead: Waiting for a Sign

Take some veterans of the art-pop/punk world, stick them together in a room, and then watch the sparks to either fly or fall flat. It’s simple, really – the results can be remarkable or banal.

Githead leapfrog what in lesser hands and talents would be insurmountable problems – so take a gracious bow Colin Newman (of UK art-punks, Wire), Robin Rimbaud (aka British experimental techno/electro dude, Scanner), Malka Spigel (Israeli-born musician/visual artist) and Max Franken (of Israeli band Minimal Compact) for expertly fusing the rush of great alternative pop music with the seductive expanse of Krautrock.

Tracks such as Bringing the Sea to the City, Air Dancing and Today highlight a classic songwriting sensibility of people clearly influenced by strangeness and charm.
