The Irish Baroque Orchestra’s January Masterworks series this year moves away from the baroque for four concerts of chamber music by Mozart, all taking place in the intimacy of St Finian’s Lutheran Church.

Each of the hour-long programmes includes a quintet, and in Monday’s opening concert the orchestra’s players are joined by American period clarinettist Erich Hoeprich (above left) for performances of the Clarinet Quintet and Kegelstatt Trio. Tuesday will bring the late String Quintet in C, Thursday the Horn Quintet, and Friday has the great String Quintet in G minor.

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s annual Horizons series, focusing on Irish composers, opens on Tuesday with a programme selected by Linda Buckley (above centre), whose choices include Stórr, by her sister Irene, which took fourth prize at the 2010 Tansman Competition in Poland. Later concerts in the series, all of which are conducted by Gavin Maloney, will feature Jonathan Nangle, Raymond Deane, and Ann Cleare.

Soprano Patricia Rozario (above right) had has a long and special association with the music of English composer John Taverner, but she’s concentrating on other aspects of her musical personality in her Music Network tour, which opens in Dublin on Wednesday. She will be singing songs by Liszt, Obradors and Strauss, folk songs, and operatic arias.

Her pianist, Michael McHale, also offers solo piano pieces by Schubert, Field, Liszt, William Wallace and Philip Hammond, as well as some arrangements of his own.
