Every section of the orchestra will get its moment to shine in Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra. And the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations is the German- Canadian cellist Johannes Moser, who won great plaudits on his début with the orchestra last year.

One of the stars of the Wexford Festival, South African soprano Pumeza Matshikiza (who sang Vendulka in Smetana’s Hubicka) gives a recital in Graignamanagh on Sunday, as part of a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Duiske Concerts. More than 130 concerts have been presented in the 13th-century Duiske Abbey since 1990. Matshikiza (above) sings a programme of Duparc, Koechlin, Bachelet, Schumann, Grieg, Puccini.
