It’s almost that time of year again when gifted writers, performers and producers assemble in a fabulously glamorous setting to compete for a much-coveted trophy. Yes, Cannes starts on Wednesday, but it’s followed four days later by the Eurovision Song Contest.
To coincide with that glittering gala, Light House Cinema in Dublin will release Sounds Like Teen Spiritnext Friday. This documentary follows the progress of four aspiring preteen stars through the lesser-known Junior Eurovision Song Contest. There will be a Light House preview of the movie at 6.30pm on Sunday, followed by questions and answers with director Jamie Jay Johnson and producer Stephen Woolley.
Woolley has produced most of Neil Jordan's movies and turned director with Stoned(2005), which focused on the short life and tragic death of Brian Jones, guitarist and founder member of The Rolling Stones, a band who bypassed Eurovision. www.lighthousecinema.ie
