Ska legends The Specials are the latest big name to be announced for Oxegen 2009.
The Coventry band officially reformed last year, and announced a series of gigs to celebrate their 30th anniversary in the music business. However, there was controversy surrounding the reunion last December. Founding member Jerry Dammers claimed that he had not been invited to participate in the tour, even though singer Terry Hall had allegedly said that the door to the songwriter remained open.
“The prodigal sons came home, kicked me out, and have left the door open, great,” a statement released by the keyboardist said.
Polemic reunions aside, other acts confirmed for Oxegen this week were Lily Allen, Keane, Wallis Bird, Paolo Nutini, The Mars Volta, Digitalism, Miss Kittin and The Hacker, Swedish House Mafia and Crookers. Tickets, which are €224.50, go on general release next Friday.
