Nitrome's Platform Panic takes the now ubiquitous endless runner and gives it a new twist. The style is retro platformer, with your tiny robot constantly moving. The difference is that instead of being on a single track, you can move all around the screen as you try to avoid the obstacles coming at you – or under you, above you and behind you. The more screens you make it through, the better, and as you move you can collect coins. When you die, it's game over and you are thrown back to the start screen. Although the same levels will appear in the game, they're shuffled in terms of order, so you never know what's coming next as you move from one screen to another.

Platform Panic is free to download, but there are in-app purchases to navigate – removing ads will probably top of the list for those who like their gameplay uninterrupted. But you can also choose different characters and upgrade your player by swapping coins that you collect. You'll need a fair few of them though, which is where more in-app purchases come into it.

A new way to enjoy endless runners.
