Poetry and history books in Enniskerry
A copy of a poetic work by Joseph Campbell, published by Maunsell & Co of Dublin in 1917, will be among the more unusual items at a special Christmas book sale in Enniskerry's Ancient Order of Hibernia Hall today and tomorrow. Called Earth of Cualann, this is numbered 179 in an edition of 500. Works relating to 1798 will also be on offer at the fair, along with books on history, literature, topography and poetry.
Children's and sporting books at Newman House
Some 40 dealers will be at the antiques and books fair in Newman House, Dublin, tomorrow. Books of specific Irish interest for sale include Grose's 1797 Antiquities of Ireland and Charles Smith's History of Waterford, published in 1774, plus children's and sporting books. Dealers specialising in silver, jewellery, porcelain and old linen are also taking stands at the fair, which opens at 11 a.m.

Christmas gift ideas at the antiques and collectors fair in Dublin Castle's Coach House tomorrow include a nine-carat gold bar brooch set with opal and seed pearls, a Victorian foot stool, a mahogany-framed, bevelled dressing mirror with brass fittings and sets of military medals. The fair runs from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
