Four-poster bed among Tralee event items

The annual Kerry antiques and collectables fair will be held tomorrow at the Brandon Hotel in Tralee from 11 a.m. Over 45 stands have been taken and items on display include an Irish wine cooler on an elongated Nelson pod, a Regency pier table and an early Victorian mahogany four-poster bed, as well as a large variety of 19th century china, porcelain and pottery. No reproductions will be permitted by the event's organisers, whose next fair will take place at the Corrib Great Southern Hotel in Galway on Saturday, February 8th.

First editions of Biggles books on offer in Dublin

A combined antiques and book fair takes place tomorrow in Newman House, Dublin. Items of literary interest include A Statistical Survey of the County of Roscom- mon, which dates from 1832, and a large number of children's books, such as first editions of Biggles. Old advertisements for Guinness, collectable porcelain, such as miniature Beswick figures, gold and silver jewellery and silver and plate will also be on offer.
