A leading article in yesterday's editions on the Report of the EU Court of Auditors said that "some 60 per cent of staff in the EU's Economic and Social committee . . . made false claims for air travel expenses". The report actually said that it was members of the committee, not its staff, who made such claims. The error is regretted.

The "Reader's Choice" book review in yesterday's editions said that William King's The Strangled Impulse was published in 1977. In fact it was published this year.

When errors occur it is the policy of The Irish Times to correct of clarify as soon as it is practicable.
