AUCTION RESULTS
A REGENCY circular mahogany and rosewood breakfast table stamped by Williams & Gibton of Dublin sold for £21,850 at an auction conducted by Christie's in London which included pieces of Irish furniture. The tabled had been estimated to make between £10,000 and £15,000.
In the same sale, a pair of Irish George III mahogany commodes (estimate £5,000-£10,000) went under the hammer for £16,675 and a pair of Irish walnut and cobalt blue glass-framed mirrors (estimate £7,000-£10,000) sold for £13,800.
Other prices included: £5,750 for an Irish Regency mahogany serving table by Gillingtons of Abbey Street, Dublin; £4,14,9 for an Irish Regency mahogany "whatnot also by Gillingtons; £3,680 for a bow-fronted Irish Regency mahogany chest; and £690 for a late George II framed embossed bird painting by Samuel Dixon and signed by one of his apprentices, Gustavus Hamilton.
