Viruses cause $7.6 billion loss

Computer viruses cost companies worldwide $7.6 billion in 1999, says a study released yesterday by Computer Economics, a US research institute.

"Expenses and time lost due to virus attacks will continue to grow, and the situation will get worse before it gets better," said the centre's vice-president of research, Michael Erbschloe.
