The Portadown plastic pipe manufacturer Unidare Plastics has announced a £2 million expansion plan and a new corporate identity, in which the company will in future be known as Uniplas.

The company was taken over in 1996 in a £5.5 million sterling management buy-out from its previous owners, the Dublin-based Unidare plc. It employs around 120 people and has a turnover of £16 million.

The chief executive, Mr Bill Tosh, said there are plans to increase this to 140 people over the next three to four years.

"We are refocussing our business," he said, "to concentrate on three core areas - telecommunications, the water industry, and the construction business."
