Irish-based Waypoint Leasing has placed the first of its Airbus H145 helicopters.

The company said on Monday that it has placed the craft with Pacific Helicopters, which is based in Papua New Guinea and operates throughout the AsiaPacific region.

Waypoint chief executive Ed Washecka said he was confident that the deal marked the beginning of a partnership with Pacific.

The leasing firm’s backers include member of investor George Soros’s family. It is headquartered in Limerick and has leased craft to clients around the world.
