Ryanair buys new Dublin offices

Ryanair has bought a new office building in Swords, Co Dublin, to relocate its Irish operations under one roof.

The Airside Business Park premises, which covers 100,000 sq ft, will be the new home for the airline’s commercial, customer service, finance, IT, legal and marketing departments.

The 400 staff currently located at Dublin Airport offices will move to the new building by the end of the year, with some facilities remaining at the airport for pilots and cabin crew.

About half of the new building will also be offered for rent to other multinational companies.

“This is a significant investment by Ryanair, allowing us the space and facilities to further develop our Dublin organisation, at much lower costs than the high rents on the Dublin Airport campus and allowing other staff currently housed in satellite offices to be brought together under one roof, resulting in a large reduction in rental expenses and further cost savings,” Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said.

Ryanair is currently attempting to take over rival airline Aer Lingus, but the European Commission has indicated that it will block the deal. Aer Lingus has urged shareholders to reject Ryanair’s bid, saying it undervalued the airline.
