The business of travelling for work
'Bizcations' the latest trend
WE HAVE had staycations, and now comes the “bizcation” trend with business trips increasingly being seen as a “mini break”. In a survey by Jurys Inns and Cross Country Trains more than one-third of travellers said they look forward to trips as a chance to explore a new city. The squeeze on finances means fewer people can afford short breaks and the “bizcation” fills the gap. London is the most popular destination for those surveyed.
Hotels get on the gourmet food truck bandwagon
THE GOURMET food truck fad is making it here very slowly but has taken off hugely in the United States, so much so that hotels are now joining the craze.
Business travellers could find themselves lining up at the “BBQ Truck” at the Ritz Carlton, Washington DC which chef Eric Ripert will open on April 27th.
In Miami the Setai’s Michelin- starred chef David Werly includes wagyu hot dogs and salmon burgers on the menu.
The Auburge Sainte-Antoine in Quebec city will open its second food truck in June on the St Lawrence riverfront.
In London, food trucks bringing a new meaning to fine dining and entertaining clients are Street Kitchen, in a silver Airstream trailer, at Broadgate Circle in the financial area, Bhangra Burger on the South Bank and Luardo’s Burrito van at Whitecross Street.
