Italian regulators fine Ryanair

Airline fined €850,000 for a lack of transparency in its optional insurance offerings

Italy's anti-trust authority has fined Ryanair €850,000 for insufficient transparency in its optional insurance offerings. UK airline EasyJet also incurred a fine of €200,000 for similar reasons.

The regulator said that Ryanair had been given 30 days to respond about how it intended to make its optional flight cancellation insurance offers more consumer friendly. It said easyJet already had taken provisions.

Ryanair recently pledged to make its website more accurate and consumer-friendly following complaints from users about misleading and hidden charges.
