GTA V Review Revulsion
Almost as interesting as Grand Theft Auto 5 itself has been reading the reviews this past week. It's been pulled up on the inherent misogyny but the fact that women are treated as sex objects is no surprise if you've played previous iterations. What's even more interesting is gamer reaction to reviews.

Gamespot's reviewer points out the sexism but gives GTA V a very complimentary 9/10. Cue calls to have her fired and other much nastier attacks. Gamespot's Feedbackula highlights the hysteria and darker spewing of hatred that is rife in online commenting on many gaming sites.

Zero punctuation
Speaking of game reviews, they don't come funnier or more acerbic than Zero Punctuation.

Created by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, these manic, fast-paced reviews are hilarious and no holds barred, and they come complete with purposefully crappy minimalistic animations.

Croshaw has yet to review the latest from Rockstar Games but watch the GTA IV review or some other recent ones like SimCity where he has a hard time complying to EA's idea of fun, prefers SimCity 4 but is fascinated by the real-time "poo map". Sniggers a-plenty.

Steam
With thousands of games available for download, Steam is a hugely popular gaming client for the PC and Mac.

The release of the Linux-based SteamOS aims to extend gaming to the television screen; it will come as a free downloadable operating system for your media centre PC as an alternative to the Xbox or PS3 entertainment experience.

There is also talk of Valve announcing its own Steam Box console. SteamOS allows games streaming from your current Windows or Mac laptop, family sharing from multiple Steam accounts and, soon, streaming music and movies.
