Web Log: Video metrics for Facebook page managers

Creators can see the ratio of videos watched with sound off compared with sound on

In an effort to get more people sharing their videos on the platform, Facebook has introduced new video metrics inside its Pages Manager app.

Up until now video creators could only see if someone had clicked on their video and racked up a “view” (anything over three seconds).

Now, there is the ability to drill down and see how many minutes were actually watched, who hit over the 10-second mark, distinguish unique views from total views and get stats on audience retention. Interestingly, creators will also be able to see the ratio of videos watched with sound off compared with sound on – something to consider when tailoring video to the mobile market.
