Samson Meteor USB Microphone, €112
Capturing quality sound on your computer has never been easier, thanks to the Samson Meteor USB Microphone. The retro-style chrome plated mic not only looks good, but some clever design means it’s also very versatile.
Because the microphone has hinged legs to support it, you can change the angle of it easily if you need to capture sound in a different way. It’s compatible with a range of audio software and will work with almost any computer. You shouldn’t need to install any additional drivers.
And as for how good the sound is, it’s CD quality, so you can record podcasts, send voice messages or chat online with no problems.

HTC Sensation
Not content with being known as a smartphone, HTC’s latest handset is being touted instead as a “superphone”.
It might not be such a big leap. The Sensation has a 1.2GHz dual core processor, an 8 megapixel camera that also shoots in HD, and a bright, clear 4.3 inch touchscreen. What that means in practice is that the phone is fast and ideal for multimedia.
HTC’s Sense user interface has been tweaked a little to make it easier to get to important functions such as the camera or email. Instead of having to unlock the phone, you can access them directly from the lock screen. And speaking of the camera, HTC has cut the shutter response time so it’s almost instant, removing a source of frustration for phone users.

TDK Sound Cube, €336
As far as portable speakers go, you can’t get much cooler than this.
Aside from its stylish looks, it comes with USB, 3.5mm and auxiliary inputs to allow users connect to a range of different audio sources. And not only does it work with your music player and access files from your memory stick, it also allows you plug in a musical instrument. On the sound front it has 20 watts of power and two 5.25-inch coaxial drivers.
It is battery-powered, so you can take it on the move, although using it with the power cord where possible may be preferable.
