Savage to oversee EMC’s centres in Russia, Egypt and Israel

Company last year announced further €100m investment in Ireland

EMC's head of operations in Ireland Bob Savage is to oversee the company's centres of excellence in Ireland, Russia, Israel and Egypt, expanding his role further.

The US multinational has key strategic centres in Egypt and Russia, among a total of eight across the world that undertake engineering and research development, provide customer service, IT and technical support, and hold customer briefings. Mr Savage will have joint responsibility for the centre located in Israel.

Role
He will continue in his role as head of operations in Ireland, where the company employs more than 3,000 people.

EMC exports products to more than 140 countries from its operations in Dublin and Cork, and last year announced it would invest a further €100 million here.

Mr Savage said he was looking forward to his expanded role. “The EMC centres of excellence are key strategic priorities for the company’s global growth, in developing products and providing support services to EMC business units and customers across the globe,” he said.

Growth plans
EMC's chief information officer Vic Bhagat welcomed Mr Savage's appointment, describing it as a key promotion for the multinational's growth plans.

“As a key leader in Ireland for more than 25 years, Bob has been a driver in establishing and growing our leadership position in the Irish market,” he said.

“In his new role, I know Bob will put his strategic management and development skills to use in the EMEA centres of excellence.”
