Nokia’s chief executive has insisted the deeply troubled mobile phone maker is not for sale, saying takeover speculation was “baseless”.

Stephen Elop gave a bullish assessment of Nokia’s prospects at a London conference yesterday.

Standard & Poor’s said it was lowering Nokia’s long-term rating following its profit warning last month. Fitch has cut its long-term rating on Nokia to one notch above junk status.
