Schrader Electronics, a subsidiary of Tomkins plc based in Co Antrim, is investing £6.7 million sterling to expand production of its tyre pressure monitoring system for major US and European car makers.

Managing director Mr Stephen McClelland said substantial contracts secured by Schrader from leading European car manufacturers will see the company move into high volume production of a next-generation electronic device which provides dashboard read out of tyre pressure status, improving safety, tyre life and fuel economy.
