German shares surged to new record highs in bourse and electronic trade driven by a wave of bullish sentiment after last Friday's jump in the dollar and Wall Street stocks.
The bourse advance, partly a delayed reaction to a US rally later on Friday, was viewed in the market as confirming that the DAX is set to shoot ahead after months in seasonal doldrums.

In Paris leading shares, helped by the stronger Wall Street, closed up 5.8 points or a quarter of a per cent, extending last week's 3.77 per cent advance. Dealers said other positive factors were rising bond prices and a stronger franc. Milan MIBTEL: 9654 (+30)
On the Milan bourse, Olivetti shares were automatically suspended after plunging 10 per cent following news that the crisis hit Italian information technology group's chief executive was under preliminary investigation by magistrates.
