Premier Oil has announced the first oil production from its Flora field in the UK sector of the central North Sea, just 14 months after its discovery in 1997. The company said initial production was expected to reach 20,000 barrels of oil per day.

Premier has a 15 per cent interest in the Flora field. It is operated by Amerada Hess which has an 85 per cent interest.
