Oracle Corporation Ireland has won a contract with the Naval Service to assess and design the next generation of computer systems required for Ireland's fishery protection duties.

The new system requires a sophisticated database to track large trawlers operating in Irish waters reporting their positions every two hours. Highly sophisticated communications systems are needed to maintain constant communications between Naval Service fishery protection vessels, the Air Corps and the Department of the Marine. Oracle has worked closely with principal contractor, Ernst & Young and consortium partners Paradigm and Smith International on the project.
