REGULATIONS for the operation of an electronic settlement system for share transactions have been finalised by the Minister for State, Mr Rabbitte. The regulations are similar to those already in existence in Britain, which will adopt the new system in July. It is expected that most companies quoted on the Irish Stock Exchange will opt for electronic settlement when it is fully operational. The system is expected to process share transactions more speedily.
