The dispute between the two shareholders of the Dublin music and nightclub venue, the Mean Fiddler which has been closed for a week, looks set to be resolved. However, it could still be up to one month before the venue reopens, writes Barry O'Keeffe.
The shareholders of Gillint Catering, which ran the venue, London based music promoter Mr Vince Power and Dublin based promoter Mr Kieran Cavanagh had been in dispute. It was reported last weekend that Mr Cavanagh had agreed to sell his shareholding to Mr Power. However, this fell through. The venue is currently in the possession of the liquidator, Mr Billy O'Riordan of Coopers & Lybrand. The Revenue Commissioners are owed £400,000 and trade creditors are said to be owed around £200,000. The two shareholders claim to be owed a further £400,000.
The Mean Fiddler is understood to have been turning over £3.25 million a year. Of this just over - £2 million was in bar returns, the remaining revenue came from door receipts for concerts.
