The British exploration company, Total Oil Marine, is preparing to drill for oil off the Co Kerry coast in June. Drilling on the well in the Porcupine Basin is expected to last for about 90 days and will cost £15 million.

Announcing the project yesterday, Total's manager of its Atlantic margin exploration project, Mr Tony Rochester, said the company had a 10 to 5 per cent chance of finding either oil or gas.
