JARDINE Fleming, the investment bank fined last month after a top trader diverted profits, yesterday announced the retirement of two directors. Chairman, Mr Alan Smith has stepped down after 24 years with the company, and Mr Robert Thomas, a director who was disciplined by fund management watchdog IMRO, has also retired.

A Jardine Fleming spokesman denied the departures were linked to last month's events.
