The growing trend towards contract work in the IT industry is to be addressed at a seminar in Cork on Monday. The conference, hosted by IT contract recruiter, RESCON and contract tax specialist, OSK Accountants, will be followed up with seminars in Dublin and Belfast.

A recent RESCON survey showed that almost 25 per cent of computer professionals have migrated into contracting in the past year. And 92 per cent of those surveyed said they treated contracting as a professional business, rather than as a way to make "a fast buck".

The aim of the conference, according to Ms Nessa Butler, head of RESCON, is to make "people aware of pitfalls as well as advantages".

The keynote speaker will be Mr Eamonn Doyle, managing director of IT services company, Cap Gemini Ireland. Details of the seminar can be obtained from www.rescon.ie
