Irish exploration minnow Gaelic Resources has turned out to be an somewhat of an investment shark for some enthusiastic amateur investors in Members of the Wirral investment club, which claims to be Britain's oldest investment club for women, last month took a speculative, albeit calculated, gamble on Gaelic, backing the company as its share tip of the month. A spokeswoman for the club admitted they also felt "an Irish share might be lucky". Their instincts proved correct when, with possibly a smidgen of Irish luck, Gaelic put in a bit of a spurt and the club won a national share tipsters' competition. The Irish oil company, which languishes in the penny stock bracket, rose by more that 60 per cent last month on the London market, moving up from 2p to 3.25p, the tip winning the ladies £1,000 to further swell their investment portfolio. A story to put renewed fire into the bellies of the management team at Gaelic Resources.
