Frankfurt DAX: 3,305.76 (+16.13)
German share prices rose yesterday but the prospect of further gains this week was ruled out by a market rendered jittery after a long period of record highs.
Traders said that weaker performances on Wall Street were also dampening sentiment, but said that the current slow down or correction was "not unhealthy" with investors picking up stocks on the way down.
Paris CAC-40: 2,596.77 (+22.82)
French stocks recovered yesterday after falling for the previous two days, helped by an early rise in US shares.
Traders said the bourse's rise was primarily a technical rebound, and they said its upward potential was limited ahead of the monthly settlement today and a US Federal Reserve policy council meeting next week.
Milan Mibtel: 11,724 (+167)
Shares in Italy closed just below the day's highs after a technical rebound lifted shares across the board. Shares were mainly helped by a firmer lira and a recovery on the bond markets.
