Dubliner to head Chevron oil giant

A Dublin-born businessman has been appointed chairman and chief executive of one of the world's largest oil corporations

A Dublin-born businessman has been appointed chairman and chief executive of one of the world's largest oil corporations. Mr Dave O'Reilly (52), originally from Ballsbridge, Dublin, was appointed to head up Chevron yesterday.

Chevron is the third largest oil corporation in the US. It recently failed to take over its rival Texaco in a deal which would have been worth $40 billion (€37.6 billion).
