Travellers in the euro countries can benefit from the new currency by using their credit cards, according to Mr Joshua Fletcher, manager of euro implementation at AIB.

AIB announced earlier this month that credit card purchases in euro countries will not be subjected to charges from January 1st. Bank of Ireland announced on Tuesday that it was dropping its credit card charges for the euro zone. The charge was 1.75 per cent and was included in the currency conversion rate.
