Three directors of Blarney Woollen Mills Ltd were yesterday granted a temporary High Court order preventing a planned extraordinary general meeting of the company from proceeding today. The temporary injunction was granted by Ms Justice Carroll to Mr Michael O'Gorman; his wife, Ms Marian O'Gorman; and her sister, Ms Bernadette Kelleher Nolan.

The order is against three other directors: Mr Patrick Kelleher, Mr Frank Kelleher and Mr Kevin Kelleher. The interim injunction is to continue until the hearing of an interlocutory injunction application by the same plaintiffs and subject to the right of the respondents to apply to the court in the meantime at 24 hours notice.

Interlocutory proceedings between the sides are listed for the High Court today but it is expected that they may not go ahead at this time.

The plaintiffs in the proceedings are seeking to prevent the removal of certain board members. The court was told that the respondents had refused earlier requests not to proceed with or to delay today's meeting pending the interlocutory proceedings.

Ms Justice Carroll was told of correspondence between the two sides in recent weeks regarding whether or not the extraordinary general meeting should be adjourned. It was stated that if the meeting did go ahead today, the status quo would be irrevocably altered.
