A NEW £8 million container terminal to cater for the growing traffic through Cork Port was formally opened by the Minister for Defence and the Marine, Mr Barrett, yesterday. He also was present at the signing of a £1.5 million contract for a new pier at Crosshaven, Co Cork. Mr Frank Boland, chairman of the Port of Cork Company, said the investment in the port was essential to handle the traffic through the port, which had doubled during the 1990s.
