Limerick-based computer group, PKS Systems Integration, is to create a further 100 jobs at its facility in the city.

The new jobs will come on stream over the next two years as part of an expansion of its operations and will be mainly filled by computer programmers and computer science graduates. PKS Systems Integration is based at the National Technological Park in Limerick and currently employs 126 people. The expansion has been fuelled by the anticipated high demand for its services in Year 2000 renovations and for Euro conversions.

The PKS facility houses telecommunications and computer hardware with advanced training facilities.

Announcing the expansion yesterday, Mr Noel Treacy, Minister for Science, Technology and Commerce, said the Government will shortly launch a campaign to raise awareness of the Year 2000 problem and provide guidelines for businesses to help them cope with the transition. PKS Systems Integration was established in Limerick in 1996 and provides tailored computer solutions to organisations such as American Express, Minolta and Novaris.
