A draft National Code of Practice on the dual display of prices to coincide with the euro's introduction was published yesterday by the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Mr Tom Kitt. Mr Kitt said the three-year period before pounds and pennies are finally phased out had to be used to prepare consumers for the new currency. "The ordinary shopper is entitled to a good induction in the new currency," he said. Submissions for the finalised code of practice can be forwarded to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment by January 29th. The code is expected to be adopted and published by March 1st.
