The credit strength of Ireland's leading banks depends on their ability to maintain good asset quality, according to a leading international credit rating agency. Moodys has said that the growth rates of 20 per cent seen in the banking sector this year and last year are not sustainable in the long-term and a key challenge for the banks will be to preserve acceptable asset quality, particularly in the mortgage market.
