Debt-laden Eurotunnel finally posted an annual profit yesterday as it enjoyed the benefits of a financial restructuring and a rise in revenues following recovery from a tunnel fire more than two years ago.
Stripping out the one-off gain, the underlying loss was £215 million which Eurotunnel said was a £396 million improvement on the 1997 loss.
