Frequent downpours were the order of the day for Elm Park competitors in the professional's (SΘamus Green) prize last week. Some gave way to the elements and retired but committee member Phyllis Woods battled through the elements to come in with 37 points. Her five pars off a 37 handicap helped her to edge past runner-up Patricia Moran (this year's winner of the captain's prize to the ladies) who also finished on 37. The gross prize went to former Irish international and Curtis Cup captain Ita Butler with 32 points.
