Kehoe Cup/ Wicklow 1-15 Mayo 1-14: Wicklow hurlers put their troubles behind them as they held out for a narrow win over Mayo in Arklow yesterday.
In the last couple of weeks they were not sure if they would cobble together a team for the match but yesterday they stood up to the Mayo challenge.
Mayo looked the sharper team early on but Wicklow improved as play wore on, sneaking ahead by 0-7 to 0-6 at the break, with three of their points coming from corner-forward Andy O'Brien.
The teams were level six times over the 70 minutes.
Keith Higgins made a big difference for Mayo when he came on as they put in a storming finish, pushing Wicklow all the way to the line.
