O'Byrne Cup Quarter-final/Carlow 1-13 Wexford 0-11:Carlow turned in an amazing second-half display to fashion a five-point victory at Horeswood last night.

Having trailed by three points at the interval, Carlow were a rejuvenated side on the resumption as they completely demolished the home side's challenge, restricting the Wexford boys to a single second-half point.

Wexford's new manager Jason Ryan was still in experimental mood as he set out to try and repeat their opening-round victory over Laois.

Carlow handed their manager Paul Bealin a great start as they raced into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead by the 20 minute - the decisive score arriving when Simon Rea lobbed a high ball forward that was collected inside the defence by Eric McCormack who neatly lobbed the ball over the advancing Anthony Masterson.

However, Wexford struck back with nine unanswered points before the interval.

Whatever Bealin had to say at the interval, Carlow responded with points from Mark Carpenter, Rea and JJ Smith having the Barrowsiders back level by the 52nd minute.
