JASON WEAVER took the day's honours at Lingfield yesterday with a near 22 to 1 double. The first leg was supplied in the opener when he drove Carrolls Marc out to score by half a length from Hill Farm Dancer to land, the Thatcher Limited Stakes at 7 to 2 giving new trainer Chris Murray his third success since taking out a licence in December.
Riding the unplaced See You Again, Ray Cochrane incurred the wrath of the stewards when they found that he had come off a true line before the marked poles. With this being his second offence within a year they fined him £100.
Weaver continued in the winning vein when guiding the Mark Johnston trained newcomer Double O Seven to victory in the Disraeli Maiden Stakes.
Carrying the colours made famous by Double Trigger he was a noticable market drifter from evens out to 4 to 1 but overcame greenness to gain the day by a neck from Creeking.
Afterwards assistant trainer James Given said: "He had his problems last season but has clearly come right now."
He went on with news of Double Trigger to say: "At the moment he is bouncing and will have his first run of the season at Ascot in the Sagaro Stakes. He was suffering from the virus in Australia."
Following the race the stewards found that Austrian champion jockey Jean Pierre Lopez was guilty of careless riding on Rawi and stood him down for two days (February 3rd and 5th).
