IAN RUSH's Welsh career looks finally over after he was omitted from the squad to play the crucial World Cup qualifier against Holland on October 5th in Cardiff.

It was thought that the Wales manager Bobby Gould might recall Rush, who dropped out of the squad for the last game against San Marino after failing to get a guarantee that he would be in the side. Wales will be without Ryan Giggs who is suspended for the game and Rush's experience would, many thought, have been invaluable in such an important match.

But the rift between the Leeds striker and Gould seems irreparable. The Wales manager admitted he had not even contacted Rush about his omission.
