Tipperary 0-22 Limerick 1-9:Wasteful Limerick registered 16 wides and managed just five points from play over the 70 minutes as they lost by 10 points to Tipperary in yesterday's Waterford Crystal Cup quarter-final.

The sides were level six times in the opening half at MacDonagh Park in Nenagh and Limerick trailed by just two points at half-time – 0-8 to 0-10.

But Limerick racked up 11 wides in that first half and in the entire second half, 1-1 from Shane Dowling was the sum total of their efforts.

Tipp, now playing with the wind advantage, hit seven points without reply to close the game out.

Brian O’Meara, Johnny Ryan and Eoin Kelly scored five points each for Tipp. Timmy Hammersley, who has enjoyed a productive January, hit three from play and sub Shane McGrath got in on the act with a quickfire brace.
