The Irish Red Cross has appealed for donations of sports equipment for an aid convoy to Bosnia next month which will bring relief items to 9,000 children.

The Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross, Martin Good, pointed out that many Bosnian children, have "either been born into war or have spent their formative years living in the shadow of the gun". He added: "The value of sport cannot be underestimated for traumatised children who need to be stimulated."
